     Setting -- what does the author want you to notice?
     Character -- what makes a character do what they do? (motivation)
     Author's choices -- Why does the author have a character saying or doing certain things?
     Plot development -- How does a character contribute to the story?  How does a character's
                                    actions affect the story?

1.  The Crucible   -- we will take just a few minutes to watch the end of Act II before we begin reading Act III as a class.

2.  Act III questions -- review the reading done in class by completing the questions for homework.  REVIEW THE READING.  The questions are being assigned for that reason.  

3.  Assignment due -- you were assigned to write  3 paragraphs discussing setting, chronology, and character and how these three elements differ between the movie and the text of The Crucible.

4.   NOTE:  Take care in completing ALL assignments.

1.  BOOK CHECK -- I gave Ms. Cooper in the library two booklists for you to refer to if you have not checked out a book yet.  If you have not, PLEASE do so as soon as possible.  Visit the library before school, at lunch, or after school.  BRING YOUR INDEPENDENT READING BOOK TO CLASS EACH DAY.

1.  NOTE:  First book review due Wed, Oct 3rd.  Please look at the annotated book list (post Sept 26) for your second book.  Because we are so close to the end of the grading period, this second book will satisfy the two book per grading period requirement for the second six weeks.  So . . .  it will be only one book you should have completed for the first six weeks.
